Bug and Camera Detector

What it is

A handheld unit that does two things: it detects active radio transmissions from devices that are broadcasting, and it reveals camera lenses through reflected light, including lenses too small to see.

This is the one product in the range with no lawful-use caveats attached, because finding devices used against you is not something anyone needs permission to do.

What people use it for

• Short-term accommodation. Checking a holiday rental or hotel room, which is now the most common reason people buy one.
• Your own home or office, where you have a reason to think something has been placed.
• A vehicle, particularly after a separation or a dispute where somebody else has had access to it.
• Before a sensitive conversation, in a meeting room you do not control.

What it can and cannot tell you

It establishes what is present and transmitting at the time you sweep. It cannot prove that nothing was ever there.

Its main limitation is that a device which is switched off, dormant, or recording to internal storage without transmitting will not show up on a frequency scan. That is exactly why a professional sweep combines frequency detection, optical detection and a physical search of the places devices are actually hidden: light fittings, power points, smoke detectors, ornaments, furniture, and the underside of vehicles.

If you find something

Do not remove it or destroy it. In many situations it is evidence, and how it was found and where it was positioned may matter a great deal.

When to book a professional sweep instead
